Konica Minolta — Asset Management
A SaaS tool that helps companies manage workplace resources
December 2023
December 2023
Company: Konica Minolta
Duration: January 2023 to December 2023
My responsibilities: prototyping, usability testing, design system, visual design
Impact: Transformed a fragmented asset management app into a scalable SaaS MVP, unblocked progress with hackathons, and validated the solution with clients for first rollout.
In 2023, I collaborated with a product team inside Konica Minolta to kick-start a SaaS platform for small and medium businesses. The product began as an Asset Management system and later we prototyped a connected suite including Bookings (for parking spots and shared company resources) and Presence (for workplace presence and scheduling).
The goal of the tool was to provide a lightweight alternative to complex enterprise software and help companies move from messy Excel sheets into a simple, connected system.
Help Konica Minolta transform their asset management app into a clear, consistent SaaS tool that allows companies to track, reserve, and manage workplace resources.
Company Admins: IT and inventory managers responsible for tracking assets, managing equipment lifecycles, and overseeing bookings.
Employees: Staff members who borrow or book resources (cars, desks, equipment) and use timetables to coordinate availability.
I joined as a UX/UI consultant together with my colleague Dominik Michna from StrideXL. My responsibilities included:
Running intensive design hackathons to kick off new features
Creating interactive prototypes for user testing and stakeholder presentations
Creating and maintaining a design system in Figma
Supporting the development team for 12 months with ongoing design delivery and refinements
Initial Hackathon: A one-week sprint to unblock the team, align on goals, and produce a testable prototype for Asset Management.
User Testing & Iteration: Prototypes were tested with users and presented to sales & management, gathering feedback for refinements.
Component Library: Established a unified design system that improved consistency, reduced developer blockers, and enabled faster scaling.
Extending the System: Through follow-up hackathons, we designed additional modules (Bookings and Presence).
Continuous Collaboration: Worked closely with the PM and dev team, following up on feature requests and feedback from clients.
"We resorted to shorter hackathons several more times when it was necessary to intensively address a large functional unit, such as a whole new module or user scenario for data import.
Both had great efficiency and a positive impact on my work as product owner and the motivation of the development team, which appreciated the clear and structured component library. A great plus was the independence and professionalism with which both designers worked and delivered outputs."
